A car's vehicle identification number is frequently located on the driver's side of the car's interior near the base of the windshield. It may also be printed on the car's engine block, inside the wheel wells, or on the inside of the car's door frame.
VINs are often printed in several places on a car to match all of the parts of the vehicle. This allows buyers and mechanics to ensure that the major parts of the vehicle have remained together. Vehicles that have different VINs in different parts of the car have likely been reconstructed with parts from other cars at some point.
