The World Carrot Museum states that carrots are grown all over the world. There are many different types of carrots, and they originated in and around Afghanistan.
Carrots were discovered in the early 900s in Afghanistan. They have a wide range of colors, including orange, white, yellow, red and purple. After Afghanistan, farmers cultivated carrots in North Africa, Southern and Northern Europe, Japan, and North America.
Wild carrots are not so much for eating as for medicinal uses. Cultivated carrots are bred and grown for marketing. Carrots are grown best in winter and can adapt to different, fertile soil types.
