Do Catholics have to pay a tithe for a prayer?

Catholics believe in paying tithes, but not necessarily as payment for praying. Catholics, like most other Christians, believe that tithing is necessary for supporting the church.
In 1 Corinthians 16:2, Christians are urged to set aside what they can afford to pay to the church. Some teach that there is no set amount of money that should be paid towards the church. Others believe that 10 percent of income should be paid towards the church in tithes.
Monies paid for tithing is used to cover the church's expenses, such as salaries and ministries. According to the Bible, no one is exempt from tithing.
