Saint Anne was born in Constantinople in 840 A.D. to an aristocratic family, according to Catholic.org. Anne is estimated to have died in 918 A.D. in Leucadia, Epirus.

Saint Anne was originally from an aristocratic family and was forced into marriage in Constantinople. After Anne's husband died, she disguised herself as a male called Euphemianus and traveled to an abbey on Mount Olympus. Anne soon became well known and honored for her holiness. She was eventually asked to become the abbess, however, Anne refused to accept the position and lived the rest of her life as a hermitess until the time of her death.
