What is CGI animation?

CGI animation is a method of animating through the use of computer-generated imagery, which is what the initialism CGI stands for; CGI itself is specifically defined as any artwork or imagery created by computers. CGI is often used in the production of films, television programs, commercials and printed media.
CGI is useful in creating visual effects because of its higher quality and greater ease of use; instead of using actual people or objects, artists can use CGI to create scenes and fill backgrounds without having to physically craft them. Using CGI in animation or artwork can also be less expensive, as content can be produced without having to finance extra actors, props or other set pieces.
