What are some characteristics of mahogany lumber?
By Forinfos - 27/04/2025 - 0 comments
Mahogany lumber has medium to large pores, fine growth ring lines and ranges from pale yellow or pink to golden brown in color if untreated. Finished mahogany is usually done to bring out the rich natural color of the wood and has a silky appearance.
How the pores appear in a piece of mahogany lumber depends on the direction of the cut. A pore in mahogany looks like a dot if the cut goes across the grain, a dash if the cut goes diagonal to the grain or a fine line if the cut goes with the grain. The pores can also contain deposits in either a glistening black or white.
