A chart of trigger points is a chart showing a human body with dots on the areas that are tender and cause pain when touched. There are 18 trigger points, and 11 of them have to be painful in order for a doctor to make a diagnosis for fibromyalgia.
Trigger points are found at the top of the neck, the clavicle, the inside of the elbow and the knee. There is a half circle of three tender points on each side of the back of the neck, a trigger point at the point of both hips and a trigger point just below each buttock.
