Which is cheapest, SodaStream sodas or bottled beverages?

As of 2015, the price of a SodaStream soda is less expensive than similar-sized carbonated, bottled beverages. On average, a liter of SodaStream soda has an average cost of approximately 67 cents, which is 22 cents less than the average 1-liter soda price of 89 cents.

A true cost calculation of the two products, however, must take into account the initial cost of investing in a SodaStream machine. The machine also requires a carbon dioxide canister replacement after a certain number of liters. Certain countries around the world, such as India or Hong Kong, also have cheaper soda prices, which reduces the price benefits of a SodaStream soda in those locations.
