Customer service numbers for some states are not toll-free numbers. The review and approval of SNAP applications depends on the state where the application was filed. States have different ways of providing status updates, so applicants should understand their local office's process for applying as they begin the process. The Food and Nutrition Service department does not field phone calls regarding applications or status updates.
