Seeds are listed as one of the approved foods within the Paleo diet, and chia seeds are no exception. The concept of the Paleo diet is to eat as a caveman might have, which eliminates all processed foods, dairy, grains, beans and salt.
Chia seeds are native to southern Mexico and northern Guatemala, and have been a grown in food crops for thousands of years. The seeds can be prepared in a variety of ways including roasting and grinding the seeds into flour, which is then used to make tortillas. The seeds are a good source of protein, fiber and are high in omega-3 fatty acids.
