Child Health Plan Plus is a public health insurance plan offered by the state of Colorado to pregnant women and their children, according to the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing. It provides health insurance for families who cannot afford private insurance and do not qualify for Medicaid.
To qualify for Child Health Plan Plus, an applicant must be a Colorado resident and have a household income equal to or less than 260 percent of the poverty level, notes the HCPF. As of 2015, the plan covers prescriptions, primary care, emergency care, maternity care and children's dental. Pregnant women receive coverage from the plan for up to 60 days after the last month of their pregnancies.
