Christmas Island is a small, volcanic island off the northwestern coast of Australia. This small Australian island is in the Indian Ocean.
The climate of Christmas Island is tropical, with a rainy season that runs from November until May and a dry season that goes from June until October. The island was named in the mid-1600s by the East India Ship Company captain William Mynors, who arrived at the island on Christmas Day, 1643. It was, however, not until 1688 that any ships were able to land on this Indian Ocean island. The island today has a national park and numerous tourist activities to entertain guests and local residents.
