What are some facts about the clarinet?
By Forinfos - 24/04/2025 - 0 comments
The clarinet is classified as a woodwind instrument that has a single reed in the mouthpiece. It is long and cylindrical in shape. It is played in a range of genres and is commonly played in jazz compositions.
The clarinet stems from a similar instrument called the chalumeau; both instruments are part of the recorder family. In the 1700s, the reed of a clarinet was often secured by wrapping twine around the mouthpiece. Nowadays, the reed is fastened with a ligature. Although clarinet variations exist today, the B-flat clarinet is a popular choice and is widely used by many musicians.
