Does Coca-Cola remove rust?
By Forinfos - 19/06/2025 - 0 comments
Coca-Cola does not remove rust. While Coca-Cola does contain carbonic acid, which is capable of dissolving rust deposits, it is not sufficiently concentrated in Coca-Cola to be effective against rust.
A widely forwarded email has spread several myths about Coca-Cola, claiming that "a crumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola" removes rust spots from chrome bumpers and that the application of a Coke-soaked cloth is all it takes to loosen rusty bolts. The Coca-Cola Company has addressed these rumors: "We don't make any claims relating to other uses. Instead, we recommend using products specifically designed for cleaning or rust removal."
