Coenzyme Q10 may lower blood pressure when taken for one to three months, according to the University of Maryland Medical System. From the scientific evidence, researchers determined that coenzyme Q10 has the potential to lower diastolic and systolic blood pressures by up to 10 and 17 millimeters of mercury respectively.
Coenzyme Q10 or ubiquinone occurs naturally in all body cells and helps to fight harmful free radicals and convert food into energy. As a herbal supplement, it treats high blood pressure, mitochondrial disorders and coenzyme Q10 deficiency. It is also effective in improving vision, decreasing the frequency of migraine headaches and improving nerve damage caused by diabetes.
