Does coffee contain carbohydrates?

Coffee does not contain carbohydrates. This is not factoring in the sugar, cream or milk that may be added to the cup of coffee, as these additions may significantly increase the carb count.
Carbohydrates occur in most prepackaged items, such as deli meats, bread and soft drinks. Coffee is similar to water and tea in that it does not contain carbs. Avoiding carbohydrates can assist in weight loss, which means drinking black coffee is generally acceptable when following a low-carb diet. Even though coffee does not contain carbs, it may contain caffeine, so it is best consumed in moderation. Coffee also contains no cholesterol or saturated fat and is low in sodium.
