What color is the planet Mercury?

Most of the surface of the planet Mercury is gray or dark gray in color. The surface is, however, broken up by small and large craters and several areas of lighter gray.

Mercury and the Moon may appear in pictures to be very similar because of their commonalities in surface and color. They both have broken up craters and rocky gray areas. However, the moon has more darker areas, which are sometimes called "seas" by astronomers due to the presence of lava flows. In addition, the Moon has more variety in color compared to Mercury. The surface of Mercury is only shaped by meteorite impacts and doesn't experience any tectonic erosion.
