What colors can a golden retrievers be?

Golden retrievers can come in dark golden, golden and light golden shades. These are the only three breed standard colors recognized by the American Kennel Club. The AKC does not recognize any alternate color patterns for the breed.

This breed is also called the yellow retriever and can live up to 13 years. They do have some major and minor health issues, such as eye, hip and elbow problems, that can impact the quality of life. This is a very playful and affectionate breed that is friendly around people and other animals, making it a good family pet. Goldens tend to get distracted easily during training, but enjoy learning new tricks.
