What are some facts about Comet Encke?
By Forinfos - 23/02/2026 - 0 comments
Comet Encke takes a little over three years to complete one orbit around the sun. Observations of the comet date back over 200 years, the second longest in human history. The comet is observable on Earth, and it has a short tail.
Much of the debris around the comet and on the tail vaporizes through its trips near the sun. The comet is barely visible to the naked eye due to its age. It is a small comet with a diameter of less than three miles, according to NASA. Comet Encke’s visibility is usually in the late fall with the Taurids meteor shower.
