Some common feline neurological disorders include neoplastic disease, epilepsy and hydrocephalus, as listed by Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Neurological disorders may also arise in cats as a result of feline infectious peritonitis virus.

Neoplastic disease is the most common cause of neurological disorders in cats, according to Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Meningioma, one type of neoplastic disease, appears most frequently and affects the thin layer of tissue that covers a cat's brain. Tumors grow on this tissue. Although they are usually benign, they eventually cause a build up of pressure that affects the cat's neurological function.
