What are the most common indications of seizures during sleep?
By Forinfos - 20/02/2025 - 0 comments
Seizures during sleep are known as nocturnal seizures and are often triggered by first- or second-stage sleep in epileptic patients who have suffered sleep deprivation, according to Epilepsy Action Australia. They commonly occur in patients who experience temporal lobe, myoclonic or atypical absence seizures.
Sleep deprivation is a common trigger of seizures, while nocturnal seizures continue to disrupt sleep and make it likely that the patient experiences more seizures, states Epilepsy Action Australia. Accordingly, patients with nocturnal seizures should be careful to receive enough sleep and may need to seek medical attention for underlying sleep disorders that can exacerbate the seizures.
