Cancer involves malignant tumors derived from muscle tissue. Several types of cancer can develop from muscle tissue, including rhabdomyosarcoma, soft tissue sarcoma and leiomyosarcoma, explains the American Cancer Society.

Rhabdomyosarcoma is cancer that develops from muscles, fat, bones, joints or blood vessels, according to the American Cancer Society. It is usually associated with skeletal muscles.

Soft tissue sarcoma can develop from bone or muscle issue. Leiomyosarcoma is a malignant tumor that is created in smooth muscle. It is most often found in the uterus, but it also can be found in the skin, heart and liver, as stated by WebMD.
