Does a coneflower need special care?
By Forinfos - 12/03/2025 - 0 comments
Though coneflowers, also known as echinacea, are relatively easy to care for, one important maintenance task is to regularly deadhead them. By doing this, the plant continues to bloom throughout the summer. At the end of the summer season, the heads can be left on to attract birds.
Coneflowers do best in soil with a pH between 6.5 and 7.0. They are drought-resistant, but they should be watered regularly if it rains less than 1 inch per week. Adding compost and mulch in the spring helps retain the moisture in the soil. They should be divided every three to four years when planted in a garden, but container plants often require yearly dividing.
