How do you connect an Apple TV?

To connect your AppleTV to your television, connect the HDMI cable from the AppleTV to your television. Next, you can optionally connect an Ethernet cable to your modem and an optical audio cable to your stereo receiver.

1. Connect the HDMI cable

   Take one end of the HDMI cable and plug it into the back of your AppleTV. Connect the opposite end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI port of your television.

2. Connect the optional cables

   If you wish to hard wire your AppleTV instead of using Wi-Fi, plug one end of your Ethernet cable into the back of the AppleTV. Connect the opposite end into your modem. If you have a stereo system, plug an optical audio cable into the back of the AppleTV. Connect the opposite end into the audio receiver.

3. Connect the power cord

   Plug the power cord into the back port of the AppleTV. Plug the end with the prongs into an electrical outlet.

4. Test your connections

   Turn on your television and make sure that the video input matches the input to which your AppleTV is connected. Turn on your AppleTV by pressing the Menu button on the AppleTV remote. If the AppleTV is properly connected, an Apple symbol appears on your television.
