What are considered off-peak times for electrical companies?

While each electric company defines its own peak and off-peak hours, on average, off-peak falls between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m. on weekdays as well as 24 hours a day on weekends and holidays. Off-peak hours are times when power demand is historically low.
Daily energy peak demand usually occurs at 5:30 p.m., as this is when there is the greatest mix of business and domestic energy use, and power companies typically charge a premium rate for power consumers use at this time. Washing dishes and laundry and charging an electric or hybrid vehicle later in the evening results in savings on electricity costs.
