The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries can be contacted by telephone at 971-673-0824 and fax at 971-673-1384 for questions concerning the state's Family and Medical Leave Act. The bureau also can be reached, by mail at 800 NE Oregon St., Suite 1045, Portland, OR 97232.
The Family and Medical Leave Act became law in 1995 to supplement the federal Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. It allows public- and private-sector employees to leave their employment, without pay, for medical and family-related issues. These include pregnancy and parental leave for a child, bereavement and serious health conditions for self or family members.
