The use of coenzyme Q10 has been known to lower blood pressure and lessen the effect of other drugs, including those that treat chemotheraphy, according to WebMD. CoQ10 supplements should not be used during pregnancy, when breast feeding or before and after surgery.

Smoking reduces the levels of CoQ10 in your body, states WebMD. Taking CoQ10 has shown to improve age-related vision loss, reduce high blood pressure and improve immune system function for those with HIV/AIDS. It is also used for the treatment in Parkinson's disease, infertility in men and muscular dystrophy. Effective CoQ10 doses vary depending on age and condition.
