What is the best corded stick vacuum?

A 2013 comparison by Consumer Reports recommends the Hoover Flair S2220 corded stick vacuum cleaner as the best compromise of price and cleaning power. It features a bagless collection system and a 20-foot cord.

Two other models are mentioned in the comparison: the Hoover Platinum LiNX BH50010 and the Shark Navigator Freestyle SV1100. These two vacuums are cordless and significantly more expensive than the Flair. Consumer Reports indicates that between the Hoover Platinum and Shark, the latter is more effective at cleaning power-intensive carpets. Generally, battery-operated vacuum cleaners, although conveniently cordless, can't match the power of a vacuum with a cord.
