E-ZPass is a cost-efficient way for travelers to pay for driving on toll roads because many E-ZPass agencies give discounts to drivers using the E-ZPass instead of cash. The E-ZPass Interagency Group includes 25 agencies in 14 states, as of October 2015.

E-ZPass is an electronic toll collection system. Many toll roads, bridges and tunnels in the Northeast United States use this system. Each agency has its own fee structure and discounts, as well as customer service and billing agencies. Vehicle owners mount the E-ZPass transponder on their windshields near the rear view mirror and drive through a designated toll collection lane where the transponder sends out a unique radio signal.
