What is the course of study to become a world history teacher?

A bachelor's degree in history with a minor in education or vice versa is the recommended course of study for becoming a middle school or high school world history teacher. Aspiring middle school teachers should study elementary education; those looking to teach high school should study secondary education.
Most programs require two semesters of student teaching, though this may vary by state. For both middle and high school teaching, a master's degree is preferred. Students wishing to teach at a two-year college level need at least a master's degree. For four-year college teaching jobs, students must get a doctoral degree in history.
