Craigslist can be a great place to buy a reliable used car if you are careful and do your research before you answer any ads.

When you are shopping for a car on Craigslist, there a few things you can do to avoid lemons and scams. According to My Money Blog, always check the book value of the car, ask for maintenance and service reports, run a Carfax report to see if it was ever in an accident, test drive the car, and finally, let a mechanic check it over. You should also make sure the car does not have an outstanding lien on it.
