Who created Minecraft?

"Minecraft" was created by Markus Persson, also known as Notch. Persson quit his job as a game developer on June 1, 2009, to create his own game. "Cave Man" was the first game he designed, a game of breaking blocks in a three-dimensional world.

"Cave Man" slowly morphed into "Minecraft" when he added a multiplayer mode, followed by a survival mode. The next step was to add a 16-bit computer, upgrading graphics. After a Halloween update adding new blocks, "Minecraft" was announced to be officially in beta. The game was officially launched on Nov. 18, 2011, at the MineCon 2011 keynote speech.
