Is curling a popular televised sport in Canada?

As of 2014, an estimated one million Canadians curl regularly, while millions more tune into major curling tournaments that are televised to the country. These tournaments are known as "bonspiels."

It was estimated that at least 46 percent of the Canadian population tuned in to at least one televised curling tournament during the 2013 season. Curling has also been an Olympic sport since 1992. Canada has medaled each year and has at least one gold in the last four Olympic games.

Curling in Canada became popular in the 18th century when the sport was brought over from Scotland. Because of the cold climate, it was possible for Canadian farmers and workers to curl on frozen bodies of water in their downtime.
