How do you cut jeans into shorts?

To make denim shorts out of a pair of jeans, mark the bottom for the shorts, even out both legs, cut the legs and hem the shorts. This project takes about 1 to 2 hours to complete.

1. Measure and mark the hem

   Put on the jeans, and zip them up to get a proper fit. Mark the bottom of the shorts with chalk or a washable fabric pen.

2. Fold and even out both legs

   Fold the denim under at the mark, and iron it in place. Fold one leg on top of the other so that both legs are even before cutting.

3. Trim and hem the shorts

   Trim, fold and hem the denim with a sewing machine, or cut it right on the line for a frayed cut-off look.
