The stock market is closed on Saturday and Sunday and does not allow trading to occur before 9:30 a.m. and after 4 p.m. Eastern Time Monday through Friday. The stock market also observes certain U.S. holidays, including New Years Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Good Friday.
The New York Stock Exchange stock market also operates different hours on the day after Thanksgiving and on December 24th, with the market closing at 1 p.m. Eastern Time on both of those days. The NYSE Arca Equities follows the same holiday schedule but has different operational hours due to an extended trading day schedule.
