DCIM stands for Data Center Infrastructure Management. It is a relatively new protocol designed to integrate information technology with facility management disciplines, in an effort to optimize the data center and the parent enterprise. Some of the benefits include increased reliability, availability and reduction of risk.
DCIM is a full suite of tools that includes sensors, software and hardware to help executives better manage the physical and digital assets tied to the enterprise. Centralization is at the core of DCIM, with the aim of facilitating communication between the business-end of the company and the information technology arm of the enterprise.
