1. Wait for flower to fade

   Wait to deadhead the Shasta daisy until the flowers start to wither and fade, which occurs when the daisy blooms start to turn brown.

2. Use a knife or pruning shears

   While you can pinch back blooms, using a knife or pruning shears yields better results. Make sure either implement is sharp and clean.

3. Cut to first set of leaves

   Take the spent bloom's stem back to the first set of leaves when you prune. This assures new growth and stimulation of blooming.
