What is a deceleration lane?
By Forinfos - 14/05/2025 - 0 comments
A deceleration lane is a traffic lane on an expressway that gives a driver a brief opportunity to slow his vehicle prior to reaching an exit ramp. These lanes are important, as they allow drivers to prepare for slower city driving after high-speed highway driving.
Deceleration lanes play an important role in making expressways safe for motorists. A ramp may include sharp curves that call for a slow speed, which is often suggested by a warning sign at the beginning of the exit. Additionally, drivers may need to bring their vehicles to a complete stop at end of a ramp, either due to a stop sign or a red traffic signal.
