Meiosis II is a process that occurs in human sex cells. In order to duplicate, human sex cells undergo meiosis I followed by meiosis II. The coupled processes produce genetically different haploid daughter cells that each have 23 chromosomes.
Meiosis II is a process that includes prophase II, metaphase II, anaphase II, telophase II and cytokinesis. In prophase II, spindle fibers form inside the cells. Next, chromosomes align along the metaphase plate during metaphase II. In anaphase II, the chromosomes divide at their centromeres and migrate to each pole of the cell. During telophase II and cytokinesis, the chromosomes form four haploid nuclei, and the cells break apart to form four haploid cells.
