What is the definition of negligent training?

By Forinfos - 18/04/2026 - 0 comments

Negligent training means that an employer does not provide sufficient training for an employee to perform his job safely. If the under-trained worker commits an act that injures himself or others, the business faces liability in a lawsuit. Once a supervisor recognizes a training gap, immediate action is required.

One example of negligent training is a distribution center manager failing to train a worker in proper use of equipment. If the poorly trained worker suffers an injury or unintentionally harms a co-worker, the business is at risk. Negligent training also results when managers and workers are not trained thoroughly on procedures. A manager might fail to investigate a sexual harassment claim because of poor training, for instance.
