What is a Del Webb community?

Del Webb builds and maintains retirement communities for people age 55 and older. Owners purchase a house that is generally built for them in an established community that has a range of amenities.

As of April 2015, Del Webb builds homes in 22 states. These are mostly located in New England, the Southeast, the Midwest and the Southwest. The homes are built according to a standardized design, but individual features vary by state. Communities may have amenities such as pools, bocce courts, free classes and scheduled events.

The company is named for founder Del Webb, who built the Sun City retirement community in Arizona.
