How do I delete items from my Google search bar?

To delete items from your Google search history, delete your browser's cookies by clearing out your history. Press Ctrl-Shift-Delete to open the Clear History window. Turn off Google Suggest.

  1. Access the Clear History window

    Open your Web browser. In Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox, press the Ctrl key, the Shift key and the Delete key to open the Clear History window.

  2. Choose the cookies option

    In this window, check the box by the cookies option.

  3. Click Delete

    Click the Delete or Clear button at the bottom of the window.

  4. Turn off Google Suggest

    Go to the Google Preferences page. Scroll down to the Query Suggestions section. Select "Do not provide query suggestions," and then save. This prevents your old searches from popping up as suggestions.
