How do you describe the location and position of the heart in the thorax?
By Forinfos - 03/03/2025 - 0 comments
In humans, the heart is located in the lower middle of the thoracic cavity and is enclosed within the thoracic wall. It is located behind and slightly to the left of the sternum, or breastbone.
The heart is located between and adjacent to both lungs, allowing for swift circulation into the lungs and rapid oxygenation of the blood. The heart is located in front of the esophagus and above the diaphragm, which separates the thorax from the abdominal cavity. The thorax extends upwards to the bottom of the neck, and the heart is below the upper thoracic organs, such as the trachea.
