"Written in My Own Heart's Blood," the eighth book in Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series, was released on June 10, 2014 in the United States. In its debut week, the hardcover edition topped the New York Times best-seller list. The trade paperback edition was released on June 2, 2015.
Set in 1778, "Written in My Own Heart's Blood" continues the tale of Claire and Jamie Fraser. The novel's cover art features a printing character known as an octothorpe, representing the eight main characters and the book's place as the eighth "Outlander" installment. Other "Outlander" titles include "Dragonfly in Amber," "Drums of Autumn" and "A Breath of Snow and Ashes."
