Andrew Carnegie made no inventions. However, he became one of the most successful businessmen in American history through his steel company. In 1889 Carnegie Steel Corporation was the largest steel company in the world due to the company's growth using new technologies and methods.
Born in 1935, Andrew Carnegie began his career in the railroad industry. Through wise investments, Carnegie left the railroad industry to focus on the growing steel industry. Later, he sold his company to J.P. Morgan's United States Steel Corporation and dedicated his life to philanthropic pursuits, including the formation of the Carnegie Mellon University in 1904.
