Where did Buffalo chicken wings originate?

Buffalo wings were first created at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY. Teressa Bellissimo created the recipe in 1964, and served the wings, which were previously discarded or used for stock in soups, as snacks to the bar's patrons.

Teressa Bellissimo's original Buffalo wing recipe consisted of deep frying chicken wings and then coating them in a mixture of Frank's Red Hot sauce and melted butter, and then serving with Bleu cheese dressing. As word spread about the popularity of the spicy snack, the Anchor Bar became famous nationally and internationally and is now known as the home of the original Buffalo wing.
