The Civil War came to an end at the McLean House, which was located in the village of Appomattox, Va. This was as a result of Confederate Army General Robert E. Lee surrendering his army on April 9, 1965.
The Civil War began in 1861 when Confederate forces started attacking Union-controlled areas. This war lasted for a period of 5 years causing the deaths of 640,000 to 700,000 people and a number of casualties. The war started as a result of disagreements between Northern and Southern states on issues like slavery, trade, taxation and rights.
