Dale Earnhardt Jr. began racing in 1991 at the age of 17 by competing in the Street Stock division at Motorsport Park in Concord, North Carolina. He began racing in the NASCAR Busch Series full time in 1998 after driving in nine races between 1996 and 1997.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a third-generation race car driver. His father Dale Earnhardt Sr. and grandfather Ralph Earnhardt also raced NASCAR stock cars competitively. Between the three of them, the Earnhardts have amassed ten NASCAR championships. As of May 2015, Earnhardt Jr. has competed in 16 Sprint Cup series and earned 23 career victories, including winning the Daytona 500 both in 2004 and 2014.
