The first episode of the British science-fiction series "Doctor Who" aired on Nov. 23, 1963 approximately 80 seconds after its scheduled 5:15 pm airing time. In the United States, "Doctor Who" was first aired in 1972 by a few commercial stations and nationally by PBS in 1978.
The original series "Doctor Who" ran for 26 seasons and the last episode was broadcast in December 1989. A "Doctor Who" television film was released in 1996 and was broadcast on the Fox network in the United States. "Doctor Who" was revived as a series in 2005 and was first broadcast on March 25 of that year.
