What did the Indians teach the Pilgrims to plant?

According to the Plimouth Plantation, the Wampanoag tribe taught the Pilgrims how to grow Indian corn. Indian corn is a different variety of corn than the type that is familiar to most Americans.

Unlike the sweet white and yellow corn that is grown throughout the United States today, Indian corn can be multiple colors, including red, blue, yellow and black. It is rarely consumed fresh on or off the cob, but it is ground into flours that are used for baking breads and making bread-like items. Indian corn was also sometimes used to barter for furs, and it was used as feed for livestock.
